I've recently become hooked on this thanks to my brother and his pals. Does anyone here play? I'm going to download the Party Poker software (in a few days) so I can play it online.

Any tips?

I played my first money game the other night. £5 in each. £25 winner, £5 second place.

Sadly, I came fourth. Went out with a pair of Kings and a pair of Aces! My brother had a full house. Totally screwed me over.

Enjoyed it though!

what you play by the way mate, what style?

Technically royal flush can be beat in true poker. 5 of a kind wild card in.

Texas Hold'em mate. Two cards, three on initial flop, then two more.

Whats the wildcard system? I've never played any other type.

Televised poker is always Texas rules. I watched Celebrity Poker last week.. Steve Davis etc! All the snooker players play it..

22:43 16.01.05 - Edited

Not only do I love poker but I'm pretty damn good at it too. Over winter break I made about 300 bucks at the local casino playing 3/6 hold'em. Also, we play little five dollar sit 'n go tournies here at school that I kick butt at.

Rob, here are some tips, play TIGHT! Especially online, get your money in when you have it, and protect it when you don't. People are maniacs, they'll call anything even if they only have a middle/bottom pair, gut-shot straight draw or a flush draw and end up hitting on the river even though they only had like 4 outs to beat you. First few seats (to the left of the deal) you need to only play very tight (high pocket pairs and maybe AKs) as you move further towards the button (dealer position) you can loose up your play taking a cheap flop with two face cards or a small pocket pair. If you hit your hand then ram and jam it and make them pay to draw you out (unless you have a real monster that isn't likey to be beat). If the flop misses you then dump your hand or maybe just call once if you have a straight/flush draw. Anyways, I'm rambling and I hope this helps.
