This information is collected from press releases and previews for Zero Hour (and in some cases EALA employees) and is subject to change. Not all information is known at this time.
PLEASE NOTE: This FAQ was written pre-release and I am currently updating it to correct questions and add pertinent questions now Zero Hour is in the shops. Therefore, not all information may be completely accurate at this time.
And recently in a video interview with Harvard Bonin, he gave the following information (direct transcript): " The USA [storyline] is the hunt for Weapons of Mass Destruction and going after Dr Thrax; GLA are gathering splinter cells back into a cohesive whole, aiming to force the USA out of the Mediterranean, out of Europe altogether. China are looking to be a world superpower, forming a large Eurasian organisation with Europe much like NATO."
The storyline is told by "embedded reporters" in the battle areas.
Are there acted cutscenes?
The movies inbetween missions where reports give you information are acted, although there aren't any acted battle scenes or briefings as such.
Is there a new game mode to play in, other than Skirmish?
The "Generals Challenge" mode allows you to fight against the Generals of each side as one of 9 Generals available (3 for each side). There is 1 "uber" General (Leang) as the boss, who has the attributes of other Generals combined.
Yes! ;) I know the designer working on the new AI system for skirmish and multiplayer very well. Great guy"¦ For the expansion we already have a working proto type AI system that can go head to head with one normal and brutal AI from the original game and hold ground. Ultimately we are trying to embed cool tactics and strategies players use online to give the AI a more human like feel. It"™s not easy, but we have a great team (Westwood/EAP) with very passionate designers looking to make an awesome and extremely fun expansion pack.
No Money sharing, but we are working on maps that are catered more towards a team environment. With the addition of the new Generals in multiplayer, General is going to feel very unique to those who play the game with others on a daily basis.
Have there been any changes to salvaging?
The development team liked the salvaging feature so much, they decided to let the GLA make more use of it. Structures can also be strengthened with scrap now, although this is done with a click with the building being selected - not 'collecting' it.
How can I disable the annoying movies that load before the game?
Go to this location, although you may need to change it if you changed it during install: C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Command & Conquer Generals Zero Hour\Data\English\Movies. Rename the files "EA_LOGO.bik" and "sizzle_review.bik" - just add some random letters to the end or something - and they'll go.
