» Mission Five - Escape Velocity

Location: An unchartered island in the Pacific Ocean
Par Time: 1 hour 15 minutes
    Mission Objectives:
  1. Pick a landing zone and construct a base
  2. Locate and destroy Yuri's submarine pen
  3. Finish off all remaining Yuri forces.

We have uncovered Yuri's secret submarine base on an unchartered island in the Pacific Ocean. The threat of Yuri's boomer subs must be neutralized!

  • Walkthrough:
    Start off by grouping your subs and scorpions. Two small patches of land will be revealed at the start of the mission: one showing normal ore and one showing gems; head for the ones with gems. Along the way you will meet 3 or 4 groups of 2 boomers (3 max); to take them out just use your subs; you may also wish to use your squids as they will punch the boomer subs as opposed to wrapping themselves around them. As the boomers are weaker than the subs and are split into smaller groups you will have little problem in making your way to the gems patch; make sure that your transports and dreadnoughts follow closely behind but do not go in front of your subs.

    Upon landing on the island with the gem field unload your transports; start building your base. There will be a Yuri Statue to the South of your base; do not get to near it or it will fire strong laser beams at your units - use your dreadnoughts to take it out. There is a long canyon along the western edge of the island; near the bottom of it there is an oil derrick; send an engineer to capture it.

    There will be a few attacks made by Yuris forces on your base; consisting of a few lasher tanks and gattling tanks - just use your existing forces to destroy them. Build a few rhino tanks when you war factory is up: (Suggested Build Order)

    Whilst building up your land forces use your naval units to wipe out any boomer subs down the left hand side of the map.

    When you have about 3 or 4 rhino tanks you should have your battle lab up; build about 5 to 6 siege choppers; whilst doing this also build about 10-12 subs. Once all your subs are completed take them down into the bottom left hand corner to join up with your other subs; now start moving towards Yuris naval base right in the middle of the map; there are quite a few Yuri Statues around the entrance to the naval pen; (the best way to uncover the shroud in this area of the map is to use your spy plane). Use your subs to take out any boomers in the base and use your dreadnoughts to knock out the structures. Once there appear to be no boomers around just destroy the sub pen.

    Throughout the mission Yuri will send different units to attack your base; the best way to stop them is just to stop them at the bottom of the canyon. Place a few rhinos, dogs and conscripts around. Use the dogs to kill any Yuri clones and the tanks to kill other enemy vehicles and squash infantry. Your siege choppers should be deployed on the highest mound to in the area below and to the right of your base; make sure they are deployed out of range of the Yuri statue in that area or else it will easily destroy them. Use V3s or a dreadnought to knock it out.. or the choppers. Make sure you keep an eye on your choppers throughout the mission and tell them to shoot the units nearest to them. This way they will survive a lot longer. Your siege choppers should take out a lot of enemy units from the top mound and prove to be decisive in your mission.

    A short while after the sub pen is knocked out the mission completed box will pop up, which means that you don't actually have to finish objective 3.
