This page contains the official press releases that were sent out by EA in regard to Yuri's Revenge. Interesting in terms of seeing how the game came along.

LAS VEGAS, NV (October 8, 2001) "“ Westwood Studios announced today that Command & Conquer Yuri's Revenge™, will ship in North America October 9, and should be fully distributed in North America by October 12. Yuri's Revenge is published by Electronics Arts (NASDAQ:ERTS) under the EA GAMES brand.

In the original Red Alert 2, Yuri was a controllable unit on the Soviet side. For the expansion, Yuri breaks from the Soviets and launches his own bid for world domination through psychic technology. Players will take command of a time-traveling task force and go back in time to unravel Yuri's evil plot.

\"With Yuri's Revenge, we wanted to give the fans more of the addictive and fast-paced gameplay they loved in Red Alert 2,"ť said Mark Skaggs, executive producer of Yuri's Revenge. \"Yuri's Revenge is a hugely ambitious expansion to an wildly successful product and we are excited about getting it out to the public."ť

Yuri's Revenge will feature multiplay over a Local Area Network and over the Internet through Westwood OnlineSM. Players can engage in fierce combat with each other or team up to play through the 10 co-op missions. LAS VEGAS, NV (July 20, 2001) "“ The entire cast of Command & Conquer Red Alert 2™ returned to Westwood Studios™ this summer to film cut-scenes for the upcoming PC game, Command & Conquer Yuri's Revenge™.This PC CD-ROM expansion for Red Alert 2 is due out this fall and will be part of the EA GAMES™ brand from Electronic Arts (NASDAQ:ERTS).

Popular characters will help bring the Red Alert 2 universe back to life. Those characters include favorites such as Kari Wuhrer (Sliders, Beverly Hills 90210) as Special Agent Tanya, Udo Kier (Armageddon, Blade) as the psychic Yuri. Barry Corbin as General Carville, Ray Wise as President Dugan, and Athena Massey as Lt. Eva. The actors spent a week in Westwood's 4000-square foot studio filming an hour of full-motion video that will be woven into the single-player campaigns to tell the Yuri's Revenge story. Editing and post-production on the cut-scenes will continue through July.

The original crew of Red Alert 2, including Producer Donny Miele and Director Joe Kucan, also worked to film the cut-scenes for Yuri's Revenge.

\"The filming for Yuri's Revenge was a little more challenging than what we've done for other games,"ť said Miele. \"We filmed over a full week, but it was rare for the main actors to be on the set at the same time. That's where the magic of post-production comes in. We have to patch all the scenes together to make it look like the actors are talking to each other, when in reality, they may never have met."ť

Yuri's Revenge is the largest expansion in Westwood's history, adding to the real-time strategy game an entirely new side: an army lead by the mysterious psychic warrior, Yuri that features 13 new infantry and six structures. Also included are four new Allied units and structures, five new Soviet units and structures, 14 new single-player campaigns, 10 new co-operative campaigns, 20 new skirmish maps, new multiplay features and a new storyline that extends the RA2 universe.

LAS VEGAS, April 9, 2001 - Following the phenomenal success of Command & Conquer Red Alert 2, Westwood Studios announced today it will release its official expansion pack this fall. The PC CD-ROM mission disk will be part of the EAGames(tm) family from Electronic Arts (NASDAQ:ERTS).

The Red Alert 2 mission disk is the largest expansion pack in Westwood's history, adding to the real-time strategy game new Allied units, new Soviet units, new single player campaigns, new multiplayer features, new co-operative campaigns, an hour of filmed story sequences, and an entirely new side: an Army lead by the mysterious psychic warrior, Yuri.

In the original Red Alert 2, Yuri was a controllable unit on the Soviet side. For the mission disk, Yuri breaks from the Soviets and launches his own bid for world domination through psychic technology. Players will take command of a time-traveling task force and go back in time to unravel Yuri's evil plot.

"We were thrilled with the success of Red Alert 2 and really wanted to build on the gameplay for the expansion pack, rather than just add missions," said Mark Skaggs, executive producer of Red Alert 2 and its expansion. "This is the largest, most involved expansion pack in Westwood's history, and we're bringing some really exciting gameplay to our fans."

Key Features of the RA2 Mission Disk:

· Three sides - In multiplayer mode, the player can choose to play any of three sides: the Allies, Soviets, or the new faction: Yuri's psychic army.

· Fourteen new solo campaign missions - Players will chose to lead either the Allies or the Soviets against the new global threat, Yuri.

· Ten new co-op campaign missions - New campaigns to fight with a partner over a LAN or the Internet.

· Exotic Locales - Players fight and take control of exotic cities all over the earth, and beyond, such as San Francisco, Sydney, Hollywood, Seattle, London, Cairo, Transylvania and even the moon.

Westwood Studios will continue its tradition of producing movie-quality cut scenes in the mission disk. The original Red Alert 2 live-action cast, including Udo Kier as Yuri and Kari Wuhrer as Tanya, will return to Westwood this month to film the cut-scenes that will advance the story during gameplay.
